National Desexing Network

The National Desexing Network is a program of the Animal Welfare League of Queensland and is a nationwide referral system for discounted desexing made available to pet owners in financial need. Our goal is to end pet overpopulation by making this service more affordable to those who might not otherwise be in a position to desex their pets.

Animal Welfare League NSW

Founded in 1958 by a group of people concerned with the level of animal welfare in the area and opposed to animal cruelty, the NSW site now operates two shelters that manage the surrender, care and adoption of companion animals. NSW is also an approved charitable organisation under Section 34B of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979, which allows them to employ inspectors with authority and responsibility for the enforcement of animal welfare practice.

Animal Welfare League SA

Formed in 1964 the AWL SA consisted of a cottage, two shops and a large garden in Norwood. As the numbers of lost and abandoned animals continued to grow, so did the AWL, eventually re-locating to its current extensive shelter facility in Wingfield in the mid-seventies. Today the shelter operates a busy schedule, with dedicated staff and volunteers looking after the thousands of stray and abandoned animals that come into the shelters every year.

Animal Welfare League Victoria - Lort Smith Animal Hospital

The new state of the art hospital, built in 2000 is the largest animal hospital in the Southern Hemisphere and provides veterinary care, rehoming services and emergency boarding for over 100,000 lost, abandoned, mistreated, sick and injured animals each year and the rescue shelters rehome around 5,000 animals every year.

Pet Rescue

PetRescue is a not-for-profit organisation that finds new homes for lost and abandoned pets. They believe every homeless pet deserves the chance to find a new loving family, but with rescue groups across the country struggling to feed and care for animals, many pets miss out on homes simply because nobody knows they are available. Through the PetRescue website it is easy for potential adopters to find and save a rescue pet. It is the largest online, searchable directory of rescue pets in Australia, making it a hub for rescue groups, pet lovers and friends. The Battery Hen Adoption Project was started in Brisbane to give ex-battery chickens a second chance at life.
