There were happy tears around the shelter when Bella finally found her new home on Monday, (April 8).
This gorgeous seven year old Labrador x Cattle dog had been waiting for four months for a home to call her own after she was surrendered in early December.
Lynn and her daughter Clara had been watching the AWLQ Facebook page for weeks and had commented how much Bella looked like Lynn’s sons dog Ozzy.
Maggie, their four year old Maltese x Shih Tzu loved Ozzy but when their son moved into his own place he took Ozzy with him and so Maggie and Ozzy didn’t get to play as often.
Maggie missed the company of Ozzy so Lynn decided if Bella was still at the rehoming centre after their pending holiday Bella would be the dog for them.
As fate would have it Bella was still at the shelter patiently waiting.
Lynn and Clara raced to the shelter with Maggie in tow to visit their potential new pet.
When Maggie met Bella she knew she had found her new best friend. She play bowed, jumped around and cuddled up to Bella and our lovely long termer thrived on all the attention.
It was then that Lynn knew Bella was the dog for them.
At the Animal Welfare League of Qld the animals in our care stay with us for as long as it takes to find them a home.
From days to months and sometimes even a year our animals are able to call the rehoming centre home until a new family chooses to adopt.
We can’t do this without your help. If you are considering a new pet please adopt from the shelter or donate to our animals by clicking the bone below.
