Animal Welfare League Queensland Rehoming Centres (AWLQ) across South East Queensland will throw open their doors tomorrow Thursday (March 24) with special, reduced adoption fees during the ‘Hop to Adopt’ campaign.
In an effort to rehome hundreds of surrendered and abandoned animals, dogs will be just $49 and cats only $29*.
“Easter is a very special time of the year for many, and this is a way that people can change a life by saving one,” CEO Denise Bradley said.
“It’s not about the fee, it’s all about getting these animals into homes where they will love, and be loved.
“What better time to adopt than during Easter, and the school holidays.”
While the offer is for one day at the Warra, Willawong, Ipswich and Beenleigh rehoming centres, the Gold Coast Shelter at Coombabah will run the Hop to Adopt campaign all weekend (closed Good Friday).
AWLQ has been rehoming surrendered and abandoned animals for nearly 60 years. In that time thousands of animals have become part of special, loving families. Last year nearly 9,500 animals were rehomed, this year AWLQ is looking to give 10,000 animals a second chance at life.
“On Monday we rehomed our 2,000th animal for 2016,” Ms Bradley said.
“A 92 year old lady adopted a nine year old dog as part of our Golden Hearts program for seniors.
“Public support has been amazing – and we really can’t achieve so many happy outcomes without your support.”
