Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) shelters across South East Queensland open their kennel and cattery doors tomorrow with the hope of emptying them by the end of the weekend.
“We are urging anyone looking to add a furry member to the family adopt from AWLQ this weekend,” AWLQ State Rehoming Manager Melinda Phipps said.
“You will ensure a shelter animal not only has a second chance at life, but a home for Christmas.
“No one wants to be without a home at Christmas.”
Now in its fourth year, the signature event has helped rehome hundreds of animals and added joy to so many lives.
“The support we have received each year has been very humbling,” Ms Phipps said.
“When you adopt from AWLQ you are rehoming one animal in need, and creating space for another in our shelters.
“The stories which are shared by people who adopt show just how rewarding adoption is.”
The adoption fees are just $50 for dogs and $20 for cats.
AWLQ rehoming centres are at Coombabah, Beenleigh, Warra and Willawong.
Doors open 10am Saturday and Sunday.
AWLQ Ambassador and Gold Coast Titan Chris McQueen will also be greeting fans and animals lovers from 9.30am Saturday morning at Coombabah’s front door.
