Mega adoption drive aims to rehome every animal in time for Christmas
After a 3-year hiatus, AWLQ’s Home for Christmas Adoption Sale is returning!
AWLQ will hold a mega adoption drive, across the weekend of 3 and 4 December, as a gift to homeless animals to get them Home for Christmas. The Home for Christmas mega adoption drive will find close to 170 animals happy new homes before the festive season.
We encourage the community to open their hearts and homes during Home for Christmas and help us rehome every animal. Cats will be reduced from $180 to $30* and dogs from $400 to $99* during the mega adoption drive.

There is no greater gift to an animal than a loving home. So when you adopt a furry family member from AWLQ’s Animal Rehoming Centres, you give that homeless animal a second chance at happiness.
Without the Home for Christmas mega adoption drive and our community’s support, the number of animals in AWLQ’s care will reach critical levels. On average, we have 1,145 stray and homeless animals in care every day. Every rehomed animal provides a space for another in need of a new home, so you’re helping two animals.
AWLQ promises never to euthanise a healthy, sociable or treatable animal in our care. We work tirelessly to keep this promise, which we are very proud of. Our community plays a vital role in assisting us to achieve this when they choose to adopt.
If you plan on welcoming a new furry family member, please come prepared:
- Dogs will need a quality lead, collar and harness suitable for their size. Also, don’t forget a seatbelt clip!
- Cats will need a secure and sturdy plastic cat carrier. The temporary cardboard carriers are unsuitable.
All these items will be available to purchase at the time of adoption – we have a wide range of food and accessories. All money raised from our retail shops goes back to caring for the animals still waiting for their new home.
AWLQ’s standard adoption processes still apply. In addition, all cats and dogs are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed.
