Reality TV and sporting stars have been stopping by the AWLQ Gold Coast Rehoming Centre all week to lend their support to this weekend’s Project Empty Shelter event.
Ben Norris, Gemma Kinghorn and Skye Wheatley from Big Brother and Olympic Gold Medal Winner and AWLQ Ambassador Sally Pearson have all paid a visit to the Gold Coast Rehoming Centre to spread the word on their social networks.
Communications Manager Brooke Whitney says social media has played a huge part in past campaign successes and is excited to see how much pull the celebrities have with their own networks of supporters.
“It’s about spreading the word far and wide – come 5pm Sunday we want all of our shelters empty and all of our animals with new loving families”. Ms Whitney says.
The AWLQ is full to the brim with more than 200 animals available for adoption.
“Our gift to the animals in our care is to lower their adoption fees in the hope they find a home. Cats adoption prices will be from $30 and Dogs from $50”. Ms Whitney says.
