AWLQ’s ‘Be the Reason They Find Home This Christmas’ Adoption Campaign

This Christmas, Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) invites the community to be a hero for animals in need through its Be the reason they find home this Christmas adoption campaign, running from 16 to 24 December.

AWLQ is aiming to find loving homes for nearly 200 animals in time for the holidays. With shelters packed to the brim with animals waiting for their forever homes, now is the perfect time to save a Life and adopt a pet.

In the spirit of giving, AWLQ is offering special adoption fees to make it easier than ever to bring home a forever friend. Cat adoptions, typically $180, are now just $30, and dog adoptions have been significantly reduced from $400 to just $150.

“We’re asking the community to be the reason our animals find home this Christmas and our goal is to get all these beautiful animals into homes before Christmas Day. By reducing adoption fees for cats and dogs, we are hoping that anyone thinking of getting a pet will choose to adopt,” said Caroline Esera, AWLQ Marketing & Communications Manager.

On any given day, AWLQ cares for over 1,000 stray and homeless animals. This adoption campaign is crucial in ensuring as many of them as possible find a forever home before Christmas. Without community support, the number of animals in need can be overwhelming.

“We want to give these animals the best gift they could ever receive for Christmas – a loving new home,” said Ms Esera. “This is an opportunity for the whole community to help make a difference and save the lives of animals in need.”

AWLQ’s standard adoption processes still apply, with all animals desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and wormed. To view available pets or find your nearest AWLQ Animal Rehoming Centre, visit www.awlqld.com.au/locations.

If adoption isn’t possible at this time, AWLQ encourages the community to consider making a donation to support their ongoing work, particularly over the Christmas period. For more details, visit www.awlqld.com.au/donate.
