GOLDEN HEARTS
Animal Welfare League Qld’s Golden Hearts™ Seniors Pet Support Program is a unique program to support people 65 and older with pet ownership.
WHAT WE OFFER
Established in 2015, the Golden Hearts™ Program proudly supports almost 4,000 members, fostering the joy and companionship that pets bring to our senior community. We are honoured to be part of your journey, offering peace of mind through our various services.
- Discounted Vet Services: Enjoy a 50% discount on annual vaccinations and a 10% discount on all other services at our three AWLQ Community Vet Clinics.
- Emergency Pet Care: Our Short Term Emergency Pet Support (S.T.E.P.S), also known as our Emergency Boarding Program, is available if you need to go hospital and have no one to help you care for your pets.
- Support for Transition to Aged Care: If you need to move to an aged-care facility that doesn’t allow pets, we offer free surrender and rehoming services to ensure your pet finds a loving new home.
- Social Events: Join us for annual social events where you can connect with like-minded individuals and celebrate your love for pets.
MEMBERSHIP UPDATE
We are committed to evolving and enhancing our services to ensure the program’s sustainability amid rising costs. To continue providing the best possible support, we have a one-time $25 joining fee for all new Golden Hearts™ applications commencing 1st July 2024. This fee helps offset some of the costs incurred to our Community Vet Clinics and the S.T.E.P.S/Emergency Boarding Program. Membership fees can be paid online when filling out a Golden Hearts™ application or directly at the counter of any of our three Community Vet Clinics. Please note that this fee does not affect current Golden Hearts™ members.
