Our 5th Annual Project Empty Shelter resulted in 196 animals finding a home in time for Christmas!
Project Empty Shelter was held on 9 and 10 December 2017 and received unprecedented support from the community, who constantly streamed into our four Animal Rehoming Centres across South East Queensland.
AWLQ CEO Denise Bradley said: “The community response has been incredible and it is extremely heartening to know that nearly 200 animals now have new homes – our sincerest thanks go to every family who rehomed an animal.”
Project Empty Shelter is an annual initiative. Each year, we hold a weekend long campaign to find loving, forever homes for all our shelter animals in time for Christmas.
Once again, we were overwhelmed with the support from our community. We are delighted to report that all four centres had a wonderfully positive response to this signature campaign.
To all who adopted during Project Empty Shelter, you not only saved the life of the pet you adopted, you also freed a place for another animal to come into the shelter.
This campaign would not be possible without the support of many people and businesses. Enormous thanks goes to AWLQ’s hardworking and dedicated staff and volunteers who give generously of their time to make this flagship campaign possible.
Thank you to our Ambassador Jarrod Wallace (Gold Coast Titans) and Brendan Elliot (pictured above)Young Ambassador Thorne Lyons, who all lent a helping hand at Project Empty Shelter – your presence at the event was greatly appreciated.
